Optimizing Choice through Dowsing and Divination

How “Pendulum Dowsing” relieved my anxiety around making Choices
One of the casualties of our modern era is an overwhelming increase in the number of “choices” in our lives…
Did you know that the average human faces around 33,000 choices every single day!
Choices are good right?
In 2000, US psychologists Sheena Iyengar and Mark Leeper challenged this idea. They set up a Jam testing table at a supermarket and discovered that far more consumers bought jam when they were given fewer choices. Almost a third (30%) of customers went on to buy a jam when the stall had six flavours yet only 3% of customers bought jam when there were 24 flavours… suggesting that too much choice is overwhelming and actually inhibits our ability to make decisions!
Similarly, In his groundbreaking book… The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less… US psychologist Barry Schwartz also argues that “an abundance of choice causes people anxiety”.
“Thinking is the enemy of action” ~ Merlin Mann
What scientists have learned is that thinking too much — for example about whether to exercise or not — can be stressful and inhibit our ability to take action.
Our traditional “primitive” ancestors only had to contend with a fraction of the number of choices we are faced with today ….and each “modern human” handle the “stress of increased decision making” a little differently.
Scientists have discovered that there are two styles of decision-making personalities… Maximizers and Satisfiers
Maximizers have a tendency to seek the best options…researching and analyzing their decisions from many angles. They are always brooding about how they could have made better choices and are more likely to experience buyers’ remorse and post decision regret.
Satisfiers on the other hand decide more immediately and “Intuitively”… based on a blend of “gut instincts” and common sense and… their strategy terminates once an “acceptable” option is found
Guess I identify as a “Maximizer” because Choices used to “freak me out”. Being very analytical I often found myself in mental pretzel knots over the sheer “quantity” and “complexity” of all the choices I was navigating on a regular basis…
What’s really interesting about Maximizers and Satisfiers is that in the long run their lives evolve with similar highs and lows… regardless of how much time and energy they give to their choice making!!!
Therefore, us Maximizers are the “losers” with our strategy because of the sheer anxiety our decision making generates… not to how much time we waste and how often we psyche ourselves out of taking any action at all!
So the real question is…. How do we analytical “idealist” Maximizers learn to make effortless decisions like the “realist” Satisfiers?
For me this answer came many decades ago when I was drawn to metaphysical or “Woo woo” practices and tools…
I learned the practice of “divination” which opened a direct line to the natural instinctual wisdom of my intuition.
When facing large decisions… like where to live… what career path to follow or who to date… I found “Divination” (aka communication with the divine source) using Tarot or Oracle cards to be extremely helpful. Through learning to “read the signs and messages in the cards” I was able to expand my perspectives… validate my hunches and see potential future outcomes that may result from my choices.
But Tarot and Oracle card readings weren’t very helpful with the bizillions of little day to day choices like.. Which supplement to buy… what mechanic or repair person to call… whether or not to attend an event? When or if to follow up on a hunch or explore a lead? What restaurant to choose….And on and on and on…. You know what I mean???? So much time spent researching reading reviews… second guessing my hunches and worrying endlessly about “right timing” it was exhausting!!!
Then I learned how to “Dowse” using a “Pendulum”…. and I never looked back!
When I discovered “Dowsing” (well technically rediscovered it…. See my blog on “Dowsing Rods”) Specifically when I learned to dowse using a Pendulum it was a great relief.
Dowsing can be described as “the ability to connect to one’s higher state of guidance… ask simple questions and get answers…” And a Pendulum is basically “A weight hung from a fixed point so that it can swing freely backward and forward” which is used to “dowse” simple yes/no answers and percentages based on the direction it swings without applying conscious motor control.
Pendulum Dowsing puts us the “decision making drivers seat” spontaneously making simple choices with a state of calmness and intuitive accuracy…
No more second guessing, anxious strategizing and over analysis.
Basic Yes/No questions have become a breeze and now I’m consistently making “ideal” choices like a maximizer… with the ease of a “satisifier”
So many choices so little time
People often come to us “Intuitive Psychic” readers to receive guidance and support specifically around making choices…. And while there is no guarantee that psychic predictions or forecasts will result in 100% most ideal or desired outcomes… practices like dowsing and divination done properly indicate mathematical probabilities based on current conditions that may be added to other data and inputs…strengthening options in favor of “most ideal choices for the greater good of all”.
Obviously when dowsing to make decisions or choices it’s essential to remain neutral and free of any bias which will block your sub conscious perception of the most “accurate and up to date data available”. So, check in with yourself… are you bias or attached to an outcome when dowsing with your pendulum?
By spending some time getting yourself into a truly “power neutral” state before dowsing your pendulum practice will yield the most supportive results.
While it’s advisable to seek outside guidance for making more complex emotionally charged decisions… learning to dowse with a pendulum to address many of your day-to-day choices is well within the reach of even the most intrepid metaphysical beginner. By practicing on the “small stuff” you will strengthen your intuition and gradually come into greater alignment with the wisdom of your higher self.
